It's 24th July Down Under - 2
Posted on: 07/23/2016 11:14 PM

Five years have passed. Dan's riding that highway in the sky. Every day his music mingles with a variety of songs flowing through my iPod headphones when I'm walking or driving. Sadly missed.

My thoughts go out to Catherine, Milton, Tom, David and all the Peek family.

oops - probably THEIR best rocker ever.... Drivin' is great though...and of course Hangover and ..... you know... there's a bunch for sure but I would say this one is number 1 - Plus I do like Dewey's version and the acoustic version too... I think I saw them do Dewey's version twice and Dan do it once come to think of it

Dave, I know of two threads (one here and the other on the America Fan Blog) that asked fans what they considered America's best rock'n'roll song ever. "Everyone I Meet Is From California" and many others were nominated. Good subject.

When I went to their 2004 Sydney Opera House concert, I was very surprised when D&G selected this song as their second last encore. "Lonely People", "Don't Cross The River" and "Woman Tonight" also featured.

Hello Gentlemen. This past week I was remembering Dan and that he's been gone 5 years now. We are each unique creations by God and when one passes away, there's a void that will never be filled. I pray Dan's family has many fond memories and that they are resting in the solace that only Jesus Christ can give.

Hard to believe it has been 5 years. Seems like just a year or two ago I was surprised to read about his passing on the internet.

"California Revisited" is one of America's top rockers. Other rockers from Dan really like are "It's Life", "In the Country", "Jet Boy Blue", and my favorite "Hurricane". I think "One Way" from his first solo album may be his best rocker period!

Mark I have a double CD featuring two full setlists of Dan's live concerts in 1986 & 1987 plus other material.

In 1986 he performed at Brassy's Nightclub, Coca Beach, Florida opening with "One Way (To Heaven)" followed by a mixture of solo and America songs including "Ventura", "Horse" & "SGH". Interestingly he closed off with "Twist And Shout". "One Way" also featured in a 1987 concert. Obviously it was one of his favorites.

I have the 1986 concert and it is very good, One Way is one of the highlights. I also like his performance of Today's The Day. I have not heard the 1987 concert.

I wish they would take those tapes, clean them up, and release a Dan Peek live CD like they did for America's 1972 and 1978 concerts.

Mark, awhile back I had mentioned that to Tom Peek, brother and webmaster for Dan Peek.com. As you know Tom wrote "Lighthouse" for Dan's "All Things Are Possible" album.

Tom told me that he would certainly like to release that material someday but he would have to first navigate copyright agreements. From memory Tom did have a couple of audio click-ons to some of the live songs on the website.
