Gee, KoG, this is a super song! I LOVE that tight harmony, a cappella, I believe, at the beginning. Good lyrics, simple chord progression, but just worked very nicely! Thank you!

Hey KoG, this song had me goin' all day! Amidst all my musical wanderings through America, MMMurphey, Kingston Trio and French worship songs, this song of Dan's was ringing a bell in my ear. When I got home, I did some searching through my sheet music and hit on the song that "Endless Flight" reminds me of! Compare music where Dan sings, "There was a time when we had everything..." with:
and these lyrics, "No longer will we give our hearts to the things of the world..."
I just love it! I have a feeling Dan's singing the latter song today, in honor of his 63rd BD, to give honor to the One Who alone is worthy to be worshiped!

Yes, S, I can hear some similarities. Perhaps others have heard "Endless Flight" before, but I had not until this morning. I really like it! I really like the guitar playing, too.

I take it back. I have heard "Endless Flight" before and had totally forgotten. It was first recorded by Dan with Ken Marvin and Brian Gentry as the trio PEACE from their 1997 self-titled CD. The re-do with Laredo, I must say, sounds a lot sharper and clearer. Credits on the CD insert states that the song was written by Dan.

Good Morning KoG! Rebecca (Peek) Page posted a comment on the YouTube vid. She hadn't heard the song and didn't know Dan wrote it. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. It has some rhythm similarities, due to the lyrics, with "Holy is the Lord."
Very interesting song comparison as I think about it more. Dan, while with America was most certainly on an endless flight, according to his own thoughts expressed in his book. The lyrics in "Holy is the Lord" are probably an apt description of the transformation Dan went through when he left the band. It's too bad he couldn't be transformed and remain with America.

Enjoyed listening to this song again John...thanks for posting.
Watching the video it was really pleasing to see an inclusion of a photo, taken backstage by Rich, of Gerry, Dewey and Catherine Peek after their 2011 Wildwood Springs concert.
(the photo can be seen on Rich's "Wildwood Springs" thread - America Blog)
In August, 2016 John Mayfield, a friend of the Peek family, posted a video of possibly the last live performance by Dan. John stated the video was taken on the 11 February, 2011 when Dan did this for a friend who recently opened a coffee shop in Farmington, MO.
John stated that he posted it for Dan's fans. Many thanks John.
