Hello Bluey! We had really nice weather most of our "winter," also, but we're sure paying for it now. My thermometer hit 107 yesterday. I hope you receive the precipitation you need, in order to minimize summer forest fires. I swam yesterday for the first time. The lake is already down 3-5 feet, which it shouldn't be until next month. Still very nice swimming, because of the extreme heat. We have a great view of Mt. Shasta from the lake, and it really shows how pathetic the snow pack is. Very frightening, and it's only early July.
A Swiss friend gave me a CD of Andre Rieu. He's good. But if I'm going to listen to classical, it had better be a whole orchestra, or I'd better be there to see, as well as hear. I got rid of the CD because I can't keep everything!I also really like "Paradise" and "Dream Come True." Dewey's vocals are very different, but very effective on both songs.
Married 30 years!!! Good for you! Go for another 30!!!Today I was reminded why "two are better than one," as I tried to assemble my makeshift "greenhouse" out of PVC pipe, and the danged thing kept falling apart. It's a 2 person job and there's only one of me. I grumbled to God and fetched the hammer. When all else fails, whack it with a hammer. It's together, standing and doing its job!

Morning, Bluey. The loverly person behind me decided 7:30 was an excellent time to move one of their broken-down trucks that's come for repairs, about 20 feet from my bedroom window. Now, it's o.k. because I had to get up for work. But what isn't o.k. is that I was in a very sound sleep, dreaming I was wandering around a certain village in Switzerland, trying to find a parking space for the American car I'd taken over with me. So if I sound like an idiot this morning?
Retirement. It's a good thing you HAVE that Jack Russell. He keeps you young, I'm sure. My German Shepherd didn't have as big of a vocabulary as I thought he did. He keyed in on tone of voice, mainly. Being German, he was VERY time-oriented and he would REMIND me of things I needed to do. However, he knew the expression, "Would you like..." You could say anything after those 3 words and he'd go ape.
A great advantage of retirement, or seemingly forever crammed into the part-time workforce where I've found myself for years, is that you have time to think. I figure God has given me this time for a reason. So I'd better use it - wisely? Dunno sometimes. But you're not the least bit corny when you say you sense His breath on you. He's alive and well and very much cares about His children down here on planet earth. Lots of unpleasant things happen. The world is going to hell. We need to be about the business of making a difference while we have the gift of time. And when that time element has disappeared, we need to have lived our lives so that we don't fry for eternity, eh? The secret is in KNOWING Him, not in doing things. I'm in a position right now where I NEED to feel His touch. I NEED to hear His voice about situations. It takes time and determination to stop the busyness so we can hear and feel. Gotta stop the merry-go-round.
As for the number of posts? I just noticed with shock that I'm over 1,000. Shall we have a contest? Naw. I ain't much into contests with others. Anybody who wants to compete against me had better go find a wall to compete with. You'll get more of a reaction.

Hi Bluey! I'll get a start on this, as it's gonna take some time, and time is one thing I don't have an abundance of this week. I'm going to ignore Dan's songs, because he said outright that he often put in lyrics that pointed to Christianity. Another time, if you want my opinion on his songs, I'll give it. And if Gerry or Dewey didn't at least have a hand in writing the song, I'm going to ignore it. In the interest of time, I'm going alphabetically. I'm ignoring Gerry's solo efforts also.
1. All Night, written by Dewey, 1979. The line "love thy neighbor." I don't think it was his intention to preach here. There's a tug-of-war going on between this line and the rest of the song.
2. Amber Cascades, written by Dewey, 1976. The line "then we call to the man who walks on the water."
3. Call of the Wild, written by Gerry, 1994. The line "come save me," is interesting. I don't think he intended any Christian connotation. Also, "an image of angels..." again I don't think he intended any Christian connotation.
4. Close to the Wind, written by Gerry and Steve Levine, 1994. The line "I was walking on the water." Unintended religious connotation, but appropriate to describe a feeling. "Peace will reign on earth," Christmas!!! "I pray every single morning." Good!
5. Cornwall Blank, written by Dewey, 1972. "I've been down to the water," is an expression for baptism. "I've been on top of the world," could correlate with one of the 3 ways satan tempted Jesus, or the Mount of Transfiguration. I think these references were unintentional on Dewey's part.
Interesting, these lyrics, and how much they're a part of our culture, or perhaps WERE a part of our culture, and you don't think about them until you make yourself think about them! I think about them, because I'm a Christian.
That's all for now. I went through the letter F. (That a reminder to myself!)
