Nice to see You - To see You , nice !
Posted on: 10/20/2018 07:05 AM

America at the London Palladium on Friday , October 19th. A truly wonderful Show. Great to see the Band again.
Standard 2018 Setlist , with 'Survival' as a welcome and much appreciated Bonus Track.
Dewey and Gerry were in fine form and were backed by really superb Musicians ( the new Young Guys are really good , as always is Rich ). Gerry's Voice a little strained on 'Here', but really excellent Vocals and Harmonies apart from that.
Nice tributes to the Guy from Warner Records who signed them up around 1971 , ( He was at the Concert ) and to the late Sir George Martin and of course Sir Bruce Forsyth.
A really enjoyable Concert. Iconic Venue. A welcome UK Tour must be on the agenda in the near future ( I hope ! )

Thanks for the review.

I would havwe loved to be there but work committments prevented it.

Hearing "Here" would have been the highlight of the night.

I only hope they come back to the UK for a tour for the 50th!

Thanks very much.

I also thoroughly enjoyed the London show, and the band were in fine form. The whole concert was filmed, does anyone know if this is for a DVD? I hope so.

Totally agree it was a great show and Ryland & Steve seem to have given new energy to the band. It obviously makes it extra special for them that their UK relatives are there and this time it was their respective sisters in the audience with their families. Also they said how they recorded with George Martin and Geoff Emerick at AIR Studios literally just across the road on Oxford Street. They obviously were thrilled to be at the Palladium and had special "London" t-shirts designed by Rich Campbell on sale as well as a specific souvenir programme for the night which had an exclusive CD attached compiled by Jeff Larson including an unreleased mix and demo

The programme also says "An extensive reissue campaign of both America and Gerry Beckley albums (on their own America Records label) commences this year and will continue throughout 2019"

2019 Releases
Posted on: 10/22/2018 06:28 PM

Any new release of Music is welcomed. However , it would be great to have an Album of new / original Songs. We have not had this since the release of ' Here And Now ' ! Bring it on !

I went to the London show knowing that there would be no new material, that it would be a Greatest Hits type show, and that Horse With No Name would be the encore, as it has been since 1974. Consequently I was not disappointed, and I thoroughly enjoyed the show and the band's enthusiasm for performing the same material for the umpteenth time.
However, ideally I would have liked to have heard some new songs, or at least a few different oldies, or perhaps a solo spot from Gerry. This would also make the (hopefully) DVD of the show a little different to the Sydney Opera House DVD.

Setlists
Posted on: 10/23/2018 09:43 AM

Agree with your observations. The Setlists are somewhat predictable and in my view , they need something of a Make-Over. However , I really enjoyed the Performance at the London Palladium.
There are loads of older songs ( pity no new material ) , that could be performed , if only to add a bit of variety and freshness to the Setlists. I also have the DVD of the Sydney Opera House Concert. This was an excellent show and a very good Setlist ! I also feel that their Setlist back in 2009 at the Barbican Centre in London was perhaps better than last Friday's , although the feel of the Show was better at the Palladium.
