Or have the guys voices really gone downhill lately? It happens to everybody, and I know Dan didn't sound the same as he had in the past. Really noticed it on a live Youtube recording that Jerry was really struggling.
Gerry's voice has been showing the wear and tear of 40 years of performing for several years now. Listen to the live CD from the Here & Now album. That was more than a decade ago and Gerry was struggling on some of those songs. He still sounds good on the studio albums, but his live performances have been shaky for a while now.
Gerry's voice was magical...and just listen View From the ground. - Amazing.. Dewey to me is a classic.. Gerry last year in Rhode Island seemed a little off - last night in Torrington... he certainly was hurting but just with certain notes/song - He handed over Magic in the third to Andy who rocked and also sang Don't Cross the River .. I need you was tough too but maybe gerry needs some time off...He did sing Monster nicely but there were definite signs but maybe not forever... who knows... Dewey did carry the ball more times last night for sure... but their love for each other and for being on stage was still very obvious. The band did a great job too
At least he's not in as bad a shape as Stephen Stills. On the last CNSY live CD other members of the group sang his solos. Sad, but that sometimes happens when we get old.
I year ya AF... I saw Dylan... Please - Gerry ... Drivin was good too... I still think he has it... just maybe too busy a schedule... I love him and like I said they love the show and each and they can play like it's 1980...... I'm still going in May and July believe me...
