Sunday 30 July 2017 Broadbeach Country Music Festival

It was a warm winter's day of about 25 degrees C or 75 F today and while it was a little cooler by the time the sun set everyone was warmed up quickly by the time the show was underway.
There were about 10 venues around the centre of Broadbeach on the Gold Coast. A temporary stage was set up on a closed street. There were restaurants down both sides of the street. People were sitting on folding chairs on footpaths on both sides of the road, others were on the sides of the road, some were viewing from balconies of neighbouring apartments and the rest of the audience stood in the space that was left on the road, stretching two blocks.
We went two hours before America's show, hoping to be close enough to get a good view and as people left the first act we saw, we were able to work our way reasonably close to the stage.
Everything about this show was superb. Jeff did a fantastic job with the sound in this large open air space. The playing was brilliant with so much energy from everyone. There was a lot of singing of the hits near us. Andy's work on the banjo and Dewey's western shirt added the country vibe to the show.
We like Gerry's "thank you very much" in his well-executed Liverpudlian accent after Eleanor Rigby. I had forgotten to mention that in previous posts. We have loved hearing Riverside again too.

There was so much joy experienced tonight, not only by the audience but also by the band. Travis, Dewey and Gerry came out with mobile phones to photograph the view from the stage before Horse. One of our sons was there with us tonight and in our post show post mortem we agreed it was a phenomenal show. Thanks to everyone who generated such happiness at this show!
