Ricochet

Hey KoG! I finally got around to checking up on your band Ricochet. You must have had a GOOD concert! Their highest-ranking song, "Daddy's Money," is o.k. The one that REALLY impressed me was, "What Do I Know." That has such a nice melody and the guy who sings lead has a pleasing voice, similar to Gerry's when he was in top form; brassy, nice vibrato and high. I also liked "Long is Stronger Than Pride." Whether it's just lofty thoughts or what, their lyrics have something to say in these 2 songs. "He Left a Lot to be Desired," wasn't at all what I thought it would be! A cool twist in the lyrics.

They've had a lot of turnover down through the years. I don't like that. Stable relationships (until recent years) is one of the things that attracted me to America. It's a demonstration of good character and/or the desire and ability to get to the heart of the matter and work things out.

Yeah, S, "What Do I Know" and "Love Is Stronger Than Pride," I too think are better songs than their #1 hit, "Daddy's Money." Funny how that is...stronger songs charting less than their #1. The band was popular for just a relatively short time hence the band member turnovers, I tend to believe. Greater success, I would think, would have eliminated the turnovers, perhaps. The main thing is that it's always been the same lead singer. Yes, it was a very good concert.

Tonight's concert is Scotty McCreery. He won American Idol a couple of years ago. He's country but I don't care for his singing voice. It's too low for my liking. Saturday's concert was Gregg Allman; however, he's being replaced by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. I may go to it. I remember reading that Dewey is an Allman fan. Maybe it was the Allman Brothers and not Gregg Allman. They're basically the same in my opinion, but their fans may disagree. I don't know why Allman was replaced. For whatever the reason, I like the replacement better.

O.K. now I've got TWO more to listen to. Manana, I'm thinkin'. I was never a fan of the Allman Brothers. Never was a Nitty Gritty Dirt fan either, but I have to agree: I'd choose them over Allman.

Our fair is this coming week. Friday our one and only public transportation system is offering free rides to and from the fair, for seniors. I may just take them up on the offer, especially since fair entry is free Friday for seniors! I'm looking more intently at attending either the Inter-Mountain Fair or the Butte Valley-Tulelake Fair, both in September. Depends on the fire/smoke situation and whether I want to drive an hour to get to either one! They both have entertainment that sounds better than what we're gonna have. We're not bringing in any big-name people this year. Our fair is "going out of business." Unfortunate.
