I enjoyed this so much. What a rush! Always have wanted to see what happens in the studio. C.O.O.L. I thought you might like to see it if you haven't yet. Dan & Gerry

This is priceless! Thank you for the link, Ocean, and many thanks to Chris Christian for uploading it. It was a joy to watch, and the shots of Dan at the end brought tears.

Thats some pretty rare stuff there--kudos to Christian if he was the one who uploaded it. "Doer of The Word" had all the elements of a classic-America song in 1984 yet with a christian theme. I remember being very excited when that record came out, considering it had been 5 years after "All Things Are Possible." Thanks Kathleen for bringing that to our attention....

Interesting watching these guys working out the vocal harmonies. Gerry certainly knows how to add in the background vocals. The bottom line is I wish I had that talent & appreciate it when I see & hear it.

Wow...great to watch! Thank you for posting it! Dan is so humble and gracious. They seem to really enjoy that time together.
The harmony of Gerry and Dan's voices....it was very special. I am so grateful for the body of work they created together. My heart... will always travel down the path of what could have been...

Dan did write about that in his blog. But also, the guys have said that they have invited him to some shows in the past, but he either didn't show up or was out of town, so I guess it's been a mish mosh of things over time. Dan also had some things to say about that producer in that video.

Yes, I knew of the supposed invites/blowoffs but it says in the comments at least I thought that is said that Dan wasn't asked to go upstage the night after recording the song

Dan shared alot with me about working with Chris Christian on "All Things Are Possible" and "Doer of the Word." Some of it you can read about in the 2010 Goldmine interview which is available via the "Archives" section of this website under "Magazine Articles."

Thanks SteveO for the article info. I read it.
Basically, Dan and the Producer, Chris Christian were like
"oil and water". He said that's what his relationship was with Gerry
after the break up.
I went to my "All things are Possible" CD and learned that Tom Peek wrote, "Lighthouse" " ). There are also two song written by Chris Christen. Christen also co-wrote, "All Things are Possible". Since I bought the Cds for Dan's talent, I didn't read the sleeve cover to cover like I usually do. Those tidbits are new to me. Catherine P. also co-wrote 3 songs with Dan. " )

DaveB, No, he was on stage with them that night. It said that he just was treated badly in ways that night, according to Dan.
I remember Dan mentioning something about Chris Christian too. Something about Christian and Gerry becoming good friends and them name dropping and so on and that Christian would hang out with un-savory characters or something like that and he used to go golfing with O.J. Simpson, etc... That's all I recall.
Tensions might have been running high between Dan and Chris but the end results,
"ATAP" and "DOTW", were first rate.
My belief was that Dan just wanted to have total control over the making of his albums
but first he needed to establish a platform. A Grammy nomination was the icing on the cake.

Steve Kipner has an equally impressive resume. He co-wrote America's "Your Move".
Here's a minor hit he had off this great album "Knock The Walls Down" ~
For whatever reason I mentioned Kipner on Dan's blog and Dan asked me if he was the same person that wrote "Love Was Just Another Word" with Christian. I confirmed that, posting a click-on biography. Interestingly Steve co-wrote Olivia Newton-John's US#1 "Physical"
and his father Nat had co-written Johnny Mathis & Deneice Williams' 1978 US#1 "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late". I wonder how many father/son combinations have done that?

Hi there, Bluey! You snuck these by me. Give me a few days and I'll have a listen. If I think any thoughts, I'll letcha know. (Glad to see your post. I thought you'd disappeared!)

Hi Bluey. It only took me a week, but I got 'round to it. I like "Love is its Own Reward." Nice lyrics and, if we can keep the right perspective after a failed relationship, so true to life. He has kind of a BeeGees' sound, but it's a good pop song. Would like to see Gerry cover that one.
Johnny Mathis. Now there's a voice! I'd put him in the same league as Roy Orbison, who we were discussing somewhere, recently on accessbackstage. I remember this song and didn't realize it was so old! 1978! Jeepers. Where does time go?

Hi Shasta, sorry for the delayed reply. We just got through a very busy long weekend holiday. Weather was great, resulting in record crowds at our two day festival. A record gathering of 228 VW Kombi Vans converged on our little seaside village plus record stalls, sky precision performances from the six-plane Roulettes and sideshows.
Johnny Mathis has an extraordinary musical resume. 350 million albums, 3 Grammys. For a time his "Johnny's Greatest Hits" album held the record for staying in the Billboard Top 100 for something like ten years or more. Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" later exceeded that.
I would imagine Gerry would be well aware of Steve Kipner's work.
Thanks for keeping the blog turning over. With Facebook & Twitter, we have far less visitors posting on the blog now. Thankfully Rich keeps it alive for us.

Delay? Who's talking delays? It sounds like you had quite a shindig where you live. We're heading into winter. So shindig season is past, unfortunately. I enjoy getting out and about town, just to see who I can see!
I actually have friends living within 10 miles of me who want to communicate via Facebook! I told them to give me a call or stop by my house because I ain't gonna do Facebook! I enjoy this website. I enjoy getting to know people and opinions. There are PLENTY of people LOOKING at this website. The number counts prove that. But with Facebook and Twitter, you can text an incomprehensible message in less than a minute. Here, it takes time and maybe we even have to spell whole words?? Tsk, tsk, tsk. So, here I'll stay!
