Jason Colannino & America rocks Delray Beach, Florida
Posted on: 02/25/2010 01:23 PM

A friend and I met up in Delray Beach (abut an hour north of Miami)
and saw Jason Colannino rock the 2/3rd's Tavern with a slew of America songs and along with some other classic rock from the 70's. Cool!

Jason was also at the Miami show a few days ago, and then also decided to rock the crowd last night with some classic America songs.

He started off with Tinman which then rolled right into Riverside -- it was all very nice. Riverside was a nice surprise. He then played some other classic rock like Beach Boys, Beatles, Jimmy Buffet, Eagles, Cat Stevens, Harry Chapin, etc, etc, etc, and everything else under the sun. He's an amazing guitarist with a real smooth voice.

He also took requests all night and later on I asked for Ventura Highway - which he was nice enough to oblige. It was well done, and so nice. And then afterwards it was so cool to hear "To Each His Own" and then... "Here." It was a real nice surprise - and a treat. Real gems. I could hardly believe my ears and he was pretty incredible.

Now that's a big America fan!

And it was almost like an all America set.

He plays for about 4 hours too. Check him out.

I was able to catch a few of Jason Colannino's shows, or sets recently while in South Florida - the first one he did was at a local Festival in Delray Beach again, he led off his set with Tin Man and then rolled into Ventura Highway. It was all very nice. And I think he was glad to see that there was a bunch of America fans in the house that day... or most of the time.

Later on he played a very nice *California Dreamin'* and everything else under the sun from the 70's. And then played Simon & Garfunkel's Boxer & America. Wow

I saw him at another time and he started off with *Daisy Jane* and then *The Border* too. A few gems, and a real rarity too. I thought, wow, how cool!

Now that's *One* big America fan.

And Ventura Highway & Tin Man seem to be in the set every night or everytime too. I bet he'd do a real nice SGH, he should try that one sometime. And it's great that he takes requests.

He seems to play a little (or a lot) of America at every show. Cool!

If anyone's in the South Florida area... check him out.

Jen, Jason's got a great voice and I really like his rendition of "Old Man Took." So, he's plays only locally in South Florida?

Al, do you ever check out Steve Lowry's fan page? I've seen Jason's MP3's listed there for quite a while - there's a whole bunch of others too, and his are listed right after Steve Sage's clips.

Cat, I'd definitely have to agree with ya too. I heard about him a few years ago but I just finally got around to checking him out recently while in the So. Florida area.

And I believe he just does shows/sets in the So. Florida area, but I heard he's from the New Jersey area, so maybe he does some shows or performs there possibly while visiting home? Don't know tho.

Anyway, it's pretty awesome to hear a bunch of America hits at his shows, and then some gems & rarities like To Each His Own, Riverside, The Border, etc, etc... and Daisy Jane was especially nice. He seems to do about 4 or 5 every show. Hmmm, I wonder what he'll play next?

And, by the way, Freddy, I love your cover of "Till The Sun Comes Again" One of my ultimate favorite songs. It's very nice.

And how could I forget Ventura Highway & Hangover too - they're fantastic.

Just wondering... have you thought anymore about traveling to the US for a show sometime? This year would be perfect, and it would be great to meet up.
