I'm sure this has been noted here on the forums somewhere in the past and I'm just now stumbling across it on my own, but in any event, even if you've heard this before I think it is worth another listen...
I happened across Steven Sage's version of Daisy Jane posted on his MySpace page earlier this week. I was very impressed with his interpretation of this song. He has more music on that site and he has a youtube site as well with an instrumental version of Tin Man posted.

I know this is an old thread now but I wanted to thank everyone who visited my my space and you tube addy's and gave me praise on my version. Almost all musicians can cover and copy songs note to note...I just like to twist things up a bit that's all. You all are wonderful and I'm soooo glad I found you;) And thanx again Capn';)~Peace~Steven

Can't Fall Asleep To A Lullaby was written by Dewey Bunnell, Steve Perry, Bill Mumy, and Robert Haimer.
I also enjoyed listening to Daisy Jane and Tin Man is nice, too. Love the graphics, too. I'm now picturing America flying from coast to coast with daisies falling out of their plane. LOL!

Awww tnx Chaz;)
Now if I could only find an agent!
That is great that you can play these songs!
Never stop ok?
I'd be content just doing scene changing or credit roll for tv and movies with my instrumentals that are also on my sites.
Music is found in almost every production.
I just can't seem to find a connection:(
Better yet...they can't seem to find me:(
Oh well..one can only hope and wait.

Steven ~ The "Coast To Coast AM" radio talk show With George Noory plays bumper music using the music of unknown artists. I believe it's done on the first Sunday of each month. You may submit an entry by going to www.coasttocoastam.com
Wow CaptDan and all of you who've posted here, you've done it once again! No wonder I love this blog so much! I missed this string until today. I can't do it at work but tonight at home I'll check out Steven's music - I can't wait!

I'm so glad this thread was brought back to the top again. I enjoy going over to Steven's MySpace page every so often to hear his version of "Daisy Jane" again. One of the nicest re-interpretations of a song that I've heard. Very cool. As a word of encouragement to Steven I will add that earlier this year, I shared the link to this song with the original songwriter and he also described this version as "cool." So, a big thumbs up to Steven...
Joe produced and played all the instruments on both CDs, still selling them at cost price plus delivery. His albums provide fans with yet another dimension to hearing the music of America.
A Dan Peek solo is also featured on each CD.
I see your other musical inspiration is Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac). I'm listening his "Law And Order" CD as I type, featuring his 1981 #1 hit "Trouble".
A couple of years ago I went to Fleetwod Mac's "Say You Will" concert at Sydney Entertainment Centre. Unfortunately Christine McVie didn't tour. IMPO, the highlight was Buckingham's solo performance of "Big Love" which got a standing ovation.
Please keep the music coming. Any chance of doing a instrumental cover of "A Horse With No Name"?

Tnx Capn' sooooooo much for showing that to Gerry.
It REALLY means alot to me...really
Bluey I just adore Joe's stuff. It's incredible how accurate he is note for note.
As for me I try to put a twist on it so that if someday they make a dedication/compilation of their cherished works I might at least get in on that.
God knows I've tried everything to get a foot in the door in this business...maybe that is another attempt for a way in.
I've done a Dewey song and now a Gerry song...there's only one more left...a Dan one. Any suggestions anyone?
I talked to Willie on the phone yesterday and he's been telling me all along to contact Akiko at William Morris to maybe find a way to open up for them or better yet see if WM will sign me.
So I wrote her a letter yesterday and sent her my links.
She wrote me back with 2 sentences that added up to
#1.No!
And #2. We are not signing any new artists:(
I don't think she even clicked on the links:(
It's been this way 4ever for me.
Any and EVERY time I send something out I get the same response.
I should have chose a career in construction because I sure do know the word "detour" very well.
And it certainly has been a long lonely road to poverty.
Like they say...it's all in who you know.
But...I know people!
I just don't have the answers of why:(
But I wanted to take the time to say I thank you all for being there.
It makes it all that harder to give up so easily and quit.
Peace everyone

Steve your version of Daisy Jane is absolutely dreamy, beautiful, and creative. Your voice is magnificent! The arrangement is awesome! The tone of your guitars is magical. The playing is sweet, so sweet! Everything has feeling, feeling, feeling!
I agree with Willie that you deserve to be picked up by some label! I may sound presumptious in saying this, but I wish I could make music with you. That won't happen because I live in Crown Point, Indiana and run around like a madman every day raising three children, and it looks like you're in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
--- Now I'm hearing Two Faces of Eve and it's so beautiful! Man you have feeling! Deep feeling! ---
--- Now I'm listening to your Tin Man youtube video. Again, you've got feeling! I don't agree with your comment on your site that you need a singer. You're a great singer! Keep up the great playing!!! Never ever stop! ---
What a wonderful treat! Made my evening!!!!

I'd love to hear your take on "Lonely People"...that's one of my set favorites (for a very funny reason I won't go into detail about here!)...I bet you could give that song a whole new vibe.

I STILL can't stop listening to this version of yours.
Why are you and this song not listed on Steve Lowery's America homepage in the tribute cover section?
I emailed him, and he has several links to my music and that of many others.
I think a link to your music would be a wonderful addition to Steve's site.

Hey Steven, I watched this Daisy Jane creation and several of your others. What a talent you are!
It's one thing to be able to mimic the original, as you said, but putting your own touch to a classic song, and still make me want to listen to it over and over...
Some day, you should play it for Gerry in person.... I'd come to watch! (as I'm sure the rest of us would).

This song sounded so good at the party this past weekend.
When are you going to put up the Dan Peek song you redid?
It sounded awesome too!!
But I'm still lovin' on this song.

Even though the Dan songs are done I've decided to submit this song as my selection for the Haiti/Chile relief CD.
Thanx to all who have said such nice things about my contributions to this site;)
I'm just trying to help brighten up the page for our favorite band and all they've given us for 40 years!
Peace
