50th Anniversary Collection
Posted on: 07/26/2019 10:15 AM

Have been enjoying listening to the 3 CD 50th Anniversary Collection. Sounds great and it does have a few previously unreleased recordings. With the exception of You Can Do Magic, it is basically an overview of America's WB years, which is understandable since it is a Rhino/WB release. I wish they would have added a 4th CD to make it a comprehensive overview of their 50 year career.

Here's my wish list for additions to the collection:

Jet Boy Blue (shudda been a single)
Don't Cry Baby
Hurricane
Only Game in Town
And Forever
Foolin
I Do Believe in You
Survival
Valentine
Right Before Your Eyes
Jody
The Border
Tonight Is For Dreamers
Special Girl
We Got All Night
Young Moon
Call of the Wild
Whole Wide World
From a Moving Train
Wheels Are Turning
Wednesday Morning
Chasing the Rainbow
Ride On
Woodstock
Driving
Mark

I would say don't get me going ... but it's too late... i have said a few times (hundreds?) single selection was goofed up on a couple of key albums ... hideaway... JBB and Dont let it get you down... please and Alibi ...oh my goodness Might be you love and survival and just about anything Dewey on that album ... that was a top 5 album by them.... truly a lost treasure... and yes... where was foolin' when they picked singles...Hurricane too... they really should have picked some of the more rocky tunes....

Perspective... well anything America but that's my least fav although I was think unconditional love.....Good calls Mark

Did you know if you assign a number to each letter in the band name, "AMERICA", you get the following:

For instance, if you assign the number "1" to the letter "A"; the number "2" to the letter "B"; the number "3" to the letter "C"; the number "4" to the letter "D" and so forth, it equals a specific number.

Here are the letters and numbers for the name, "AMERICA".

A = 1
M = 13
E = 5
R = 18
I = 9
C = 3
A = 1

Add the numbers together. Just "discovered" this the other day. After all, it is the band's 50th anniversary (or so it is said).

How about ONE IN A MILLION.
A classic masterpiece by Gerry Beckley.

Thanks mdh!

As Jim mentioned about "One In A Million," I was sitting around one day wondering what the numbers of my birthdate added up to be. I then wondered what the birthdate numbers of each member of the former trio equaled when added together. When I added up Gerry's, I was FLOORED to discover that they equaled the following:

Click Here

September 12, 1952 equals 09/12/1952

0+9+1+2+1+9+5+2 equals his favorite number.

Now, that to me, is one in a million!

Why thanks Dave! This reminds me of something some years ago when the duo offered up to the highest bidder a chance to hang out with them for a day. If I recall correctly, the winning bidder was from Germany, and the winning bid was over a $1000. What the exact amount was escapes me.

And, there was the time when the trio had a "Sister Golden Hair" contest when the song was high on the charts. If I recall correctly, the contestants were from around the world. It was funny to me that at least one of the contestants was from Asia. She, of course, was not a blonde being that she was of Asian descent. It appeared from the black and white photo that accompanied the magazine article that many of the ladies weren't blonde either.

As a side note regarding my previous posting here about personalized license plates, some automobile owners have "BLONDE" as their plate. They hang it upside down which I think is very clever.

DaveB2 To Me my KofG - the way care - is one in a million ... God Bless

Sorry, Dave, I'm not clear on what you're saying. "The way care"? Will you please explain?
