This was the first day of summer in Australia and it was wonderful to have America provide the soundtrack. The venue had a capacity of 1,600 and had been sold out for some weeks. The format of the show was different in that there was no support act and the show started at 7 pm. The songs were the same as the those at the earlier shows. We were closer than we were at the previous shows and this provided us with a different perspective of all that was happening on stage. It’s so good to see exactly what is happening with the instruments. There was an all round “feel good” vibe in the room from the band, crew and everyone else in the audience. There was so much energy on the stage, especially from “the kids” as they were affectionately referred to. The music was fabulous and Jeff did a stellar job with the sound. One man in the audience stood up and said he had seen America in 1970 and that they were just as good now as they were then. Gerry thanked him. After Sister Golden Hair one lady was spotted with her entire torso resting on the stage as she stretched her arms to try to retrieve a pick. Just prior to this Gerry threw one that landed inside my open handbag. While everything else was transpiring, Eric was busy documenting the night from varied viewpoints with his camera. This show exuded great warmth from all participants and we experienced much joy.
