G'Day John, yes it must have been daunting for them. No audience. Obviously no George Martin or set plan, I smiled when Gerry, forever the perfectionist, said "we wanna redo that song". I assume he means "Ventura Highway".

I remember reading somewhere that they took a long time in the studios recording/producing their first three albums. Please correct me if I'm wrong but didn't George Martin tell them he would produce and arrange "Holiday" only if they recorded the album in England and take a lot less studio time doing it?

In 1981 I remember Glenn Shorrock, Little River Band, being interviewed about their latest album release "Time Exposure" which was produced by George Martin. He said that the band was given an absolute specific timeline to start and complete the recordings. They rehearsed, rehashed and had everything ready to go when they went into the studio. He said it was a very rewarding working with Martin and his production team, both on a professional and personal basis.
