It was a cold day in Canberra and rain was pouring down as the audience arrived at the venue. This was the last show of the tour and it seemed to fly by. Both sets were dynamic. We always feel sad when the last show comes around as we wonder if the band will return to Australia. They clearly love visiting Australia. It is such a shame that their visits are so rushed. Here's to a return visit before too long. The music and sound and chat were excellent, with the setlist the same as the long shows on this tour. Everything was so upbeat tonight that our sense of sadness about the final night was overtaken by the joy of the performance. Gerry was funny recounting to the audience about an incident when four people ran down to the stage. He said that it looked like things were going to get out of hand and it was just as well that security had been doubled for their show. He described it as understated but efficient! All of Russell Morris's band joined America on stage for Horse. What great end to the tour. We take away such fond memories of this tour. Special thanks to Rich for calling me over to hand me his pick after his Here solo, to Dewey who threw us a pick after SGH which Ross found on the carpet after the show and to Gerry for his mention. Thanks also to Ryland, Andy, Jeff and Dave. Our last America encounter for the night was at traffic lights as we waited for the walk sign at the pedestrian crossing to go over the road to the carpark. The white van that had to stop at the red light for us carried some of the band! We wish everyone associated with the band a safe trip back to the US and hope they can catch up on some sleep.
