It was 41 years ago this month that we saw America on their first Australian Tour. It was with the same sense of eager anticipation that we approached this show on a wintery Melbourne night. Legendary Australian musician, Russell Morris, was the support act. His set incorporated some of his recent and very successful blues songs and hits from past decades. The audience responded enthusiastically, as they later did for America. He spoke sincerely about America's professionalism and warmth of character. There have been some changes since the 2015 Australian tour. This was our first time seeing Andy and he was terrific. Great work on the banjo, Andy! We wish Bill well with his new endeavours. There were several changes in the setlist. There were some new videos and subtle changes in some of the old ones, with Australian references in Sandman. It was a full house tonight and a fabulous achievement after the 41 year association with Australia. It was diffcult to try to spot other fans we thought might have been at the show, although one fan was met in an unexpected place. The night was full of surprises and we take away fond memories of the night. We love seeing this band! Thanks for a great night. Here is what we heard.
