Yep, the fur flew - and I survived. So did the boss. He's pretty upset, as he should be. The liability alone is petrifying. Unfortunately the shop boss called him yesterday at home, and ruined his day. So there was a big pow wow first thing this morning. The thing that really bugs both of us is that one of the men involved is a long-time employee. He didn't follow procedure; things fell through the cracks and I drove out of there with an improperly mounted wheel. I also emphasized the lack of integrity and their lack of respect towards me. Upshot is, I will get a free winter changeover if the snow flies and only the boss is allowed to touch my tires! Besides that, it will be interesting to see how things move, concerning rebuilding in Weed. From an insurance point-of-view, as well as from the state's standpoint, allowing people to rebuild on substandard-sized lots is another disaster waiting to happen. However, people need to have a place to live. I pray they come to an equitable solution - one that is more farsighted than at present. I know one family who's moving back to Mount Shasta, after renting for the last 3 years in Weed. I don't know how damaged their house was in Weed, but they're done.
