Hi Bluey! I'll get a start on this, as it's gonna take some time, and time is one thing I don't have an abundance of this week. I'm going to ignore Dan's songs, because he said outright that he often put in lyrics that pointed to Christianity. Another time, if you want my opinion on his songs, I'll give it. And if Gerry or Dewey didn't at least have a hand in writing the song, I'm going to ignore it. In the interest of time, I'm going alphabetically. I'm ignoring Gerry's solo efforts also. 1. All Night, written by Dewey, 1979. The line "love thy neighbor." I don't think it was his intention to preach here. There's a tug-of-war going on between this line and the rest of the song. 2. Amber Cascades, written by Dewey, 1976. The line "then we call to the man who walks on the water." 3. Call of the Wild, written by Gerry, 1994. The line "come save me," is interesting. I don't think he intended any Christian connotation. Also, "an image of angels..." again I don't think he intended any Christian connotation. 4. Close to the Wind, written by Gerry and Steve Levine, 1994. The line "I was walking on the water." Unintended religious connotation, but appropriate to describe a feeling. "Peace will reign on earth," Christmas!!! "I pray every single morning." Good! 5. Cornwall Blank, written by Dewey, 1972. "I've been down to the water," is an expression for baptism. "I've been on top of the world," could correlate with one of the 3 ways satan tempted Jesus, or the Mount of Transfiguration. I think these references were unintentional on Dewey's part. Interesting, these lyrics, and how much they're a part of our culture, or perhaps WERE a part of our culture, and you don't think about them until you make yourself think about them! I think about them, because I'm a Christian. That's all for now. I went through the letter F. (That a reminder to myself!)
