Hi Tom, aka Roady. Glad you joined the conversation. Hurricane isn't my favorite Dan song. Just re-listened to find out why. Despite the fact that people will give me dirty looks, I don't like a good deal of George Martin's orchestration. The song is a great 50's-60's rocker, has a great bass part, good rhythm, very strong background vocals. But I think I would've enjoyed hearing a good lead guitar part instead of the heavy emphasis on the horns. Without that lead guitar part, it just seems empty. I too like the lyrics, "Some will be taken, some will remain." Lyrically speaking, I think it's one of Dan's best contributions while in the band.
