Forums :: America Fan Blog :: Personalized License Plates With "AMERICA"

Poster: King_of_Glass
For an additional small fee each state in the U.S. offers its automobile owners the chance of having personalized license plates also known as "prestige" or "vanity" plates. Of the 50 states what would you guess the percentage is that someone in each state owns a plate with the name, "AMERICA"? Obviously, with too much time on my hands this afternoon, I decided to check it out. Seventy-two percent of the 50 states do which means 14 of the 50 don't, and they are: Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, West Virginia and Wyoming. I didn't include the District of Columbia, but someone there also has an "AMERICA" plate. I'd bet all who do, do so with the country in mind (versus the band name). For what it's worth, I have probably met 4 or 5 people with the first name "America". All of them were women and all were Hispanic except one who was an elderly black.
